Installing Windows XP. Step one.

So, we have a new computer and a CD with Windows XP. Turn on your computer and insert the installation disk with the OS CD-or DVD-ROM. If necessary, restart the computer and enter the BIOS (setup), by pressing the "DEL", to change the options to boot up your PC (we are interested in the option "boot from CD").

To change the settings tab, select Advanced - Advanced BIOS Features.

Here's what you'll see in front of you on the screen:

All BIOS settings are always the default, so no need to change anything. We are interested in only one line - First Boot Device. Select the column to the right, in the same line, [CD-ROM].

Then get out of the BIOS, pressing F10. In the pop-up window, you will be asked whether you want to save changes and exit. Press Y.

Now your computer will reboot again and, according to our changes will boot from the CD.

Windows XP installation program itself will prepare your PC to install the OS, but before that certainly suggest that you read the license agreement to make sure that you accept all terms of the purchased product. Once you confirm this by pressing a key on the keyboard, the installer copies the necessary information to boot from CD to hard drive. After copying you will be prompted to select and format a hard drive on which to install the OS, because the hard disk must contain at least one formatted partition. Once you select a partition for installing the program will continue copying files. Upon completion of this operation, your computer will automatically reboot.

After the reboot you will be prompted to enter the serial number - Serial Number. It must be specified on the box with the disc.

Once you enter "key", a dialog box with a choice of installation. Here, too, all by default, so click "Next» ("Next"). Now you will see a window with the installation parameters.

Set your language. You will be asked to select the primary and secondary language.

Click the Advanced Options button. Settings window will open, which will be two fields. The first is the path and name of the file folder to install Windows XP (the value of this field should be the default CD-ROM). The second field specifies the folder in which the system will be installed (also by default, but if you want to rename the folder, can do it here.) Accessibility does not affect the installation, so click Next.

Next you will need to provide your personal information - name ("Name") and the Organization ("Company"). Name field is filled in mandatory, but the Organization is optional, so go further.

The next dialog box prompts you to choose a place of residence ("Location"). Depend on this form of the date, time, the image of some icons (for example, currency icon), and many of the values ​​that are in line with the country of residence, are installed by default (eg, language). In addition, most programs written for Windows XP, adjusted to the parameters specified during installation, for more convenient work. Keep this in mind! So choose from the list of countries Russia and click Next. Now install Windows XP will continue automatically and does not require your participation. Depending on your speed of your PC installation can take 20 to 50 minutes. Moreover, during this time, a few more will appear, telling you to restart. You do not need all this time to sit in front of the monitor and miss, you can safely do their business - the computer will restart in 15 seconds, and then restart itself continue.

After installing the Windows XP and the next reboot installation program will automatically configure the system according to the features of the equipment on your PC. She will determine its composition and installs the necessary drivers. Throughout this process, the screen displayed the appropriate dialog boxes that tell about the program. Once this is complete the computer will restart again (or automatically after 15 seconds or after you press any key.)
